In the past two months, there have been three serious motorcycle accidents in and around the Las Vegas area. Two of the motorcycle wrecks involved loss of life.
These tragic accidents led the Las Vegas police to stress the importance of safety and caution for car drivers who share the rode with motorcycles.
“We need to be aware that motorcycles are on the road,” said Metro Police Officer Michael Lemley said, according to 8newsnow.com. “They are a smaller vehicle, so drivers need to be aware.”
When cars and motorcycles collide, the consequences can be devastating for the motorcyclist. If they are fortunate enough to survive, the injuries can be severe. A police officer who got hit while operating a Metro motor bike said, “I ended up with five knee surgeries, two compression fractures and bolts and discs in my back, because the driver approaching the intersection failed to stop at the stop sign.”
So remember, be vigilant when you’re on the road. We need to cut down on the number of preventable car-motorcycle accidents that are occurring in our state.
