Pedestrian Hit by Car Loses Life at Henderson, NV Bus Stop

The driver, a 29-year old California woman, lost control on the rain-slicked street, jumped the curb, struck the man, and pinned him to a tree. The unidentified victim, who was conscious while emergency crews freed him, later died from his injuries at a hospital.

Defective Product Alert: Pottery Barn Recalls Lamps

The three models affected are the Montgomery Floor Lamp, the Montgomery Task Lamp, and the Clay Task Lamp (both of the task lamps are designed to sit on desks or other furniture). The victim has been identified as 50-year old Maria Nunez de Mendez, who died from suffocation and multiple blunt force injuries after being struck by a pickup truck on Craig Road last week. Nunez de Mendez was trapped underneath a Toyota Tundra when emergency responders arrived. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Las Vegas Sun reported that a person was killed when a commercial vehicle struck a bike rider. The accident occurred near the intersection of Craig Road and Losee, forcing authorities to shut down a portion of Craig Road for several hours. The article doesn’t list what type of commercial vehicle was involved, nor does it detail how the accident took place.

There are plenty of questions that will need to be answered about this incident in the coming days. Was the oven altered by the owners in some way that caused it to be off balance, or is the appliance an example of a defective product? If the latter is the case, the boy’s relatives might be able to file a product liability lawsuit against the stove’s manufacturer.
