It is important to keep in mind that just because you appeal a verdict, another court may deny that appeal – often without a solid reason. Even if your appeal is successful, the higher court may simply order a new trial instead of rewarding you more money – meaning you’ll have to start the entire legal process over again.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall this week of three different toys that were made by Fun Stuff Inc. The Chinese-manufactured toys are called Klick Klick Balls, BoBo Balls, and Click Armband Bracelets. Collectively, about 36,700 units were sold from January 2009 through last month for between $2 and $5 at beach resort retailers across the country.

It is helpful to anticipate driving situations which can result in traffic accidents before a collision occurs. For instance, if a freeway lane on I-215 is ending in a quarter mile and there is a car in that lane next to you, you can reasonably assume that the car will need to merge into your lane. This would allow you to speed up or slow down in order to make room for the merging car and avoid an accident.
While law enforcement agencies are responsible for catching drunk drivers and the courts can levy fines or jail sentences, accident victims need a lawyer to fight for compensation for their injuries, lost time at work, and any pain and suffering they have endured.
Certainly, the chances of a resident, pedestrian, or motorist being struck by a crashing aircraft are very slim. But what would have happened had there been cars driving on the roadway where this Piper crashed – or worse, if children had been playing in the neighborhood street?
The pedestrian was taken to University Medical Center and reportedly suffered serious injuries. The exact details of the crosswalk accident are still being investigated.
Whatever the reason, you should know that you have the right not to be subjected to hazing. Furthermore, if you are injured as a result of hazing activities, the perpetrator(s) can be held liable for damages in civil court (which does happen).
Large moving trucks can be difficult to control if they have to stop or swerve suddenly. Self-serve rental trucks are often smaller but the drivers operating them generally have little experience with vehicles that size – meaning they are more likely to cause a wreck.
It’s frustrating to hear about these kinds of preventable car accidents. If the officers had simply followed orders, maybe this tragic car crash could have been avoided.
